Superbowl XLIII Recap

by Insane Limos on February 2, 2009 Post

Superbowl XLIII in Tampa was an amazing game to say the least. It was just as exciting as last year’s last minute victory for the New York Giants to upset the heavily favored Patriots. From the first few minutes when the Pittsburgh Steelers took control of the ball and marched it down the field for a touchdown to the last minute game winning touchdown catch for the Steelers, this game kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time with amazing plays from both football teams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers came out very strong and proving that they belong in Superbowl 43 when they received the kickoff and dominated as they moved down the field to put points on the board only minutes into the first quarter. The Arizona Cardinals didn’t look like they wanted to win the game until in the second quarter when they finally put points on the board, making the score 10-7. However, right before the half was over the Steelers scored again to make the score 17-7 in the longest drive in Superbowl history, an interception run back the entire length of the field.

Things were not looking good for the Cardinals. Pittsburgh scored again to make the score 20-7. The largest come back in history was to overcome a ten point deficit, but Quarterback Kurt Warner and the rest of the Cardinals weren’t giving up. Warner and the Cardinals staged a remarkable rally to take the lead 23-20 with 2:37 remaining.

Then with only a short amount of time left, Ben Roethlisberger drove the Steelers down the field. There he nailed Santonio Holmes with a quick, six yard touchdown pass with only 35 seconds left on the clock to pull the win over Arizona, 27-23 making the Steelers the only team in the NFL with six Superbowl titles (1974, 1974, 1978, 1979, 2005 and of course this year) under their belt. Some sports commentators say its puts them in the same league as the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics and Montreal Canadiens.

And that’s just the game. You can’t forget about the commercials – the one second Miller High Life ad, the hilarious Doritos ones and of course the E*Trade commercial with the talking (and singing) babies to name a few.
